Community Air Monitoring

Community Members for Environmental Justice (CMEJ) is launching a Community Air Monitoring Project in 2025 to advance environmental justice and community empowerment through data collection and analysis. This initiative will focus on monitoring air quality in Northside and Southside Green Zones of Minneapolis and the St. Paul Frogtown area. By equipping community members with air monitoring training and tools, CMEJ seeks to hold major polluters accountable and advocate for policy change.

Project Goals:

  • Provide community members with the knowledge and tools to monitor air pollution in their neighborhoods.

  • Collect data on air quality to identify pollution sources and their impacts on public health.

  • Use data-driven recommendations from Hyphae Design Lab to propose environmental improvements.

  • Strengthen local advocacy efforts by leveraging air quality data to influence policy decisions.

Project Partners:
CMEJ is collaborating with Hyphae Design Lab, which will analyze collected air quality data and provide recommendations on mitigating pollution impacts in affected communities.
